The Generasi Gigih by Yayasan Anak Bangsa was created to help Indonesia’s young tech talent to catch up with the fast-growing innovation ecosystem with the right skills and mindset. I’m happy to be chosen as one of the Data Analyst participants who will work on an impactful real-life project. Along the learning journey, YABB provides us three series of webinars called The Webinar Ignite Series.

The first webinar was having Kak Aleisha as the speaker with the theme “Getting ahead by learning to unlearn and relearn”. It was a very insightful webinar. We learned the concept of unlearning where it allows us to discord and validate the relevance of our past knowledge.

The world’s constant thing is change. We are changing, things are rapidly changing. Every day we are adapting to something new, whenever something is changing, we need to unlearn. The tools and techniques we are good at right now are going to be less useful maybe for the next 5 years. The unlearn skill is crucial because when we know how to unlearn, we have the adaptability skill and will lead to a productive life. It does not matter how efficient we are, what matters is how flexible and adaptable we are.

The second webinar was with the CEO of GOJEK, Kak Kevin. He shared the story of the early days of Gojek where he and his team were faced multiple challenges with limited outsourcing in a fast-changing situation. I’m amazed by what changemakers meaning to Kak Kevin. He stated that changemakers are those who are making someone’s life easier, it doesn’t need to be on large scale, start small and keep growing are the keys. Make a product that you’re also the customer of your product, if it’s making your life easier then working on improving the product. When the product has the potential to be a success, there will always challenge to face along the way.

By the end of the webinar, Kak Kevin got a question from the participant asking about insecurity in their 20s. Kak Kevin provided a very insightful answer where he said there are two sides to insecurity. The negative side of insecurity is, it’s normal. There will always people ahead and behind us for wherever level we are at. While the positive side is, everybody feels it. It’s just that some show it and some don’t. This statement constantly boosts my confidence as a person who wants to switch from Physics to the tech field.

The last webinar was delivered by kak Opan sharing tips and tricks on successful learning methods for tech talent. Learning is the process of absorbing knowledge we may not know before. Self-learning can be tricky because only we can control our progress. I think to minimize the effort and maximize the output is kak Opan’s principle of life. Learn just enough and apply what you learn and keep repeating that phase. Challenge yourself to do a freelance job. We may become individuals who are responsible for our growth if we become used to self-learning.

Taking this opportunity to thank Kak Ale, Kak Kevin, Kak Tara, Kak Opan, Kak Mutia, Kak Aida, and all the YABB team for hosting these very interesting webinars. I’m ready to be the next changemaker!
